Cannabis Dispensary in Carroll Gardens: The Licensed Shops on Court, Smith and Union Streets

Two licensed shops opened inside Carroll Gardens in spring 2026, and three more sit on its edges. Addresses, registered hours, delivery and the rules for adults 21+.

5 min read

A cannabis dispensary in Carroll Gardens used to mean a trip to Park Slope. As of 2026 it means a walk down Court or Smith Street: the state's license data lists two operating licensed storefronts inside the neighborhood, both opened in spring 2026, with three more on its edges in the Columbia Street Waterfront District, Cobble Hill and Red Hook. For adults 21+ in the brownstone blocks south of Atlantic Avenue, the map is finally local.

The neighborhood, quickly

Carroll Gardens runs from Degraw and Warren Streets south to Ninth Street and the Gowanus Expressway, and from Hoyt and Smith Streets west to the Brooklyn–Queens Expressway. It takes its name from Charles Carroll, the only Roman Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, and from the deep front gardens laid out in an 1846 survey that set its brownstones back from the street. The Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the Carroll Gardens Historic District in 1973.

The F and G stop at Carroll Street and Smith–Ninth Streets. Carroll Park, the block-long square between Court and Smith, has been city property since 1853.

The licensed shops

Every shop below appears as an active, operating licensed adult-use retailer in the Office of Cannabis Management's license data, updated at the end of October 2026. Hours are the shops' state registrations; confirm before going.

Emerald Dispensary Carroll Gardens, 548 Court Street

Open since April 2026, with registered hours of 9 AM to 9 PM daily. It is the shop behind most of the Carroll Gardens searches that reach this site.

The Garden Club, 227 Smith Street

Also opened in April 2026, on Smith Street. Its registered hours run 10 AM to 11 PM daily, the latest regular close in the neighborhood, and its own listing offers in-store shopping and order-ahead pickup.

On the edges

Erudito Cannabis Boutique, 120 Union Street

Across the BQE in the Columbia Street Waterfront District, Erudito opened in July 2025. Brooklyn Paper reported at the time that it was the first legal dispensary in that district, and that owner Fernando Lendof named it after the Latin word for learned. Its registered hours run 8 AM to 10 PM Monday through Wednesday, 8 AM to midnight Thursday through Saturday, and 10 AM to 9 PM on Sunday.

Buzzy, 137 Court Street

North on Court in Cobble Hill, open since November 2025, with registered hours of 8 AM to 10 PM daily. It is the early-morning option for anyone walking up toward Atlantic Avenue.

Upstate Edge, 387 Van Brunt Street

In Red Hook, open since April 2025, for anyone on the waterfront side of the expressway. Its state registration lists 10 AM to 10 PM on most days; given a data entry on the registration that doesn't read cleanly, a call ahead is the safer bet.

Another Smith Street address holds a pending application but was not operating as of the latest data. The dispensary directory keeps the current list, and the Gowanus hub covers the shops on the other side of the canal.

Before the visit

Verify, every time. Licensed status changes, and unlicensed shops still exist in Brooklyn. Verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov: every licensed dispensary posts a scannable verification sticker near its entrance, and OCM's retailer finder at buylegal.cannabis.ny.gov lists every licensed location.

Bring a valid photo ID. Adults 21+ only. A driver's license, a non-driver ID, IDNYC, a passport or a military ID all work.

Know the limits. Up to three ounces of flower and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis, which includes edibles, vapes and oils. Shops can set lower caps when stock runs short.

Budget for the tax. New York adds 9% state and 4% local retail tax at the register.

Read the label. Regulated products carry the state's universal symbol and a QR code that links to lab results. With edibles, the label shows milligrams per serving: start low, go slow.

Delivery in 11231

Delivery covers the brownstone blocks and the waterfront alike, which matters most in Red Hook, where the subway is a long walk. New York's delivery rules apply everywhere:

  • Prepaid, online or by phone; no cash to the courier.
  • ID and signature at the door, from the buyer or another adult 21+ the buyer names.
  • Homes and private businesses only. Never a park, a pier, a school, a public building or a parked car.
  • Store hours only. Delivery runs while the shop is open.

The parks and the sidewalks

Carroll Park, the sidewalks of Court and Smith, the playgrounds and the waterfront parks are public. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces, and the city's parks are public spaces. Renters should also check the lease: landlords can ban smoking in apartment buildings.

What it means for your errand

Two licensed shops inside Carroll Gardens and three more within a short walk is a different neighborhood from the one of a couple of years ago. Pick by hours, check the sticker, carry ID, and walk it home sealed. For what's on around the borough, the events calendar has the week.
