Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026
The Brooklyn Cannabis Club ("we", "us", "our") publishes editorial content about the legal cannabis industry for adults 21 and older. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit thebrooklyncannabisclub.com, how we use it, and the controls you have.
This policy applies only to this site. Links to external sites (dispensary websites, partner shops, etc.) carry their own policies.
Information we collect
Automatically when you visit: we collect standard web-server logs (IP address, browser user agent, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamps). We also use a privacy-friendly analytics tool (Plausible Analytics) that does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites.
When you sign up for a newsletter: we store the email address you provide, along with the date you subscribed and your unsubscribe token.
When you create an account: we store your email, display name, hashed password (or OAuth provider ID), profile preferences, and any content you post (comments, reviews, gallery submissions).
When you contact a dispensary through affiliate links: clicks are counted anonymously to attribute referrals. No personal information is passed to the dispensary.
When you make a purchase (via Stripe for subscription boxes or directory listings): payment is processed by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy. We store your customer ID, order metadata, and shipping address if applicable — we never see or store credit card numbers.
How we use it
- Serve the pages you request and keep the site running
- Send newsletter emails you've opted into (with one-click unsubscribe in every email)
- Protect against abuse, spam, and fraud
- Aggregate traffic into anonymous reports (top pages, referral sources) to improve the editorial product
- Comply with legal requests we're legally required to honor
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run third-party ad trackers, retargeting pixels, or data brokerage integrations.
Who we share with
We share data only with the services required to operate the site:
- Vercel — site hosting + edge delivery
- Neon — database
- Resend — newsletter + transactional email delivery
- Stripe — payment processing (only for paying subscribers and directory advertisers)
- Plausible — privacy-friendly analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking)
- Cloudflare / Unsplash / OCM — image delivery and open-data sources (no visitor data is shared with these)
We do not sell or rent email lists. We do not share subscriber lists with advertisers, dispensaries, or any third party outside the operational services above.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses a minimal set of cookies:
- A session cookie when you sign in (expires when you sign out)
- A preference cookie if you change the theme or dismiss a banner
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics trackers, or cross-site retargeting pixels. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Your controls
Newsletter: every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also request removal by emailing us.
Account: you can delete your account from your profile settings at any time. Deletion removes your personal data from our systems; we may retain anonymized aggregates (e.g. comment-counts, post histories) that no longer identify you.
Data request: if you want a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or want it deleted, email the contact address below with the request.
Children
The Brooklyn Cannabis Club is for adults 21 and older only, consistent with New York State and federal law on cannabis. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn that a minor has created an account or subscribed to the newsletter, we will delete the data promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that meaningfully expands how we use or share your personal information, we will post a notice on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
